FAQ's

  • What kind of soap do you make? Is it Cold Process, Hot Process or Melt & Pour?
    • Our soap is Cold Process soap. This is an old fashioned type of soap that has  been available for hundreds of years prior to the mass production of body products by big companies. Cold Process soap is made by taking natural oils or fats, and combining them with lye (derived from wood ash) and water.  When these are combined in the correct ratios, each of the ingredients undergo a chemical reaction called saponification. The oils and lye change their chemical makeup to become soap. No Lye exists in the final product that we sell because it is all used up during the soapmaking process (saponification).  Next, the newly made soap goes through a curing process that lasts several weeks so that any remaining moisture evaporates, leaving behind a hard, long lasting bar of soap that produces a creamy, bubbly lather.  Cold process soap can last for years when kept in a dry, room temperature environment.
  • Is bar soap less hygenic than liquid body wash?
    • No. Because of the PH of old fashioned cold proces soap, bacteria and mold cannot grow. Liquid soap is required to contain preservatives to prevent this, wheras our bar soap does not contain any artifical preservatives.  However, most store bought, mass produced bar "soaps" do not have the PH requirements needed to deter bacterial growth, because they are technically synthetic detergent bars that don't actually contain true soap per the FDA.

  • What kind of oils do you use in your soap and bath products?
    • All of our oils are 100% plant based. The oils we use for our soap vary between each product we offer, but our recipe generally uses Oilve Oil and Coconut Oil in each bar of soap to create a gentle, bubbly lather suitable for all skin types.  Some of our other products such as our scrubs and foaming bath soaks use Coconut oil, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil and more to create a luxurious shower or bath experience!

  • Where do the botanicals come from in your products?
    • Most botanicals are hand harvested or hand grown by us in our garden or purchased from small family farms or family businesses who share the same values as us regarding sustainability and a cruelty free life for animals.

  • Can you reccomend a soap/bath/skin product to treat a certain medical condition I have?
    • We are not medical professionals so legally we cannot give you any medical advice, however we are happy to answer any questions you may have about our ingredients and how a particular product has worked out when we used it on ourselves during testing and daily use.  Allergen information and safety information is printed on the ingredient label of each product so please read carefully before using if you have any concerns!

  • Where do you get your gemstones/crystals?
    • We mine most of our crystals ourselves from various mines in North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia.  Others we order from trusted online suppliers who we have built good relationships with over the years who guarantee their crystals are authentic and high quality.

  • How can you be so sure that your gemstones/ crystals are authentic and are really what you say they are?
    • There are a couple ways to tell. When we recieve shipments of new stones before making jewelery with them, we do test them. We check for the correct flourescence in our stones under UV Blacklight (for example, genuine ruby glows a vivid red under blacklight). We also test for the correct hardness on the Mohs hardness scale. Each stone has a specific rating on that scale. For example, Amethyst has a hardness rating of 7 (very hard) , while Purple Flourite has a hardness rating of only 3 (quite soft). Amethyst can scratch Flourite, but Flourite cannot make a scratch on an Amethyst. Tests like these help us ensure our gems are genuine.

  • Can I send you a crystal / gem / rock that I currently own for you to wire wrap as a custom order?
    • We are not currently doing custom wire wrap work on any stones that are already owned by our customers.

  • Why are your products sometimes out of stock? When will you get more?

We also pack and ship each item personally to ensure everything arrives in one piece, arrives quickly, and that your order is correct.  If something you need is out of stock, please contact us and we will get back to you quickly to let you know how soon we can have it available for you, or we may be able to make a batch especially for you depending on your needs and depending on the product.
